The Choir was created in around 2011 and came out of various community choir projects across LB Newham. It has been supported by London Borough of Newham in different ways but is on the whole a self funded choir.
The choir performs across the borough and at different events in other parts of London – such as The London Landmarks Half Marathon. Some of the photos of these events are on the Gallery page.
The choir sings a very broad range of music from classic, to music theatre, to pop. Encompassing such pieces as CHORUS OF THE HEBREW SLAVES from the opera Nabucco, THE RHYTHM OF LIVE from the musical Sweet Charity and songs such as DOWNTOWN made famous by Petula Clark, FUNICULI FUNICULA written to celebrate the opening of the Vesuvius Funicula and, of course I’M FOREVER BLOWING BUBBLES. Some of this you can hear on the In Action page.
The choir is led by singer and arts facilitator Sovra Newman, www.sovranewman.com . The choir’s pianist is Tim Smith.
